SOLITUDE
June 18, 2009
We stood together
in a silent zone
amidst ruins
watching our shadows merge
with the fading light.
Memories are
a chapter of the past
thoughts to treasure
or transcend
or forget
like unwanted remnants
of history.
With moist eyes we capture
for the last time perhaps
fragments
of our first blush
the squeezing of hands
a clumsy kiss
the frantic moments of
inevitable seperation
and despair.
We hear the sound
of an approaching engine
it is time for her to depart
to a foreign land
promising other dreams.
We kiss awkwardly
momentarily
like the first time
And then she disappears
in a cloud of dust
the silhouette of the car
miles away
racing ahead.
It is sunset
across the universe
the meaning differs
is myriad lives
One, anticipating a brilliant sunrise
awaiting her
the other
contemplating the darkness beyond.
of everlasting passion
I felt it’s unfathomable touch
– it’s unbridled love
When I wondered about you.
I heard the bluebird sing
in a deep, dense forest
I trudged along
slippery paths
sinewy bends
in search of it’s mellifluous tune
I stood by the panoramic fields
stretching interminably
into the sleepy foothills below
wondering about
it’s infinite glory
it’s natural grace
it’s enduring charm
I heard a whisper
an emotional cry
of a loved one
drawing me inseparably close
I let the cauldron burn
I saw the conflagration coming close
I saw the fire in her eyes
When I wondered about you.
